IntraHealth International, Inc. is currently accepting expressions of interest from candidates interested in serving as Regional Health Software Engineer, Digital Health.
Summary of role
The Regional Health Software Engineer, Digital Health will lead and support various digital health product software development and implementation, primarily iHRIS (Vue.js, Node.js, FHIR) in Ethiopia and DHIS2 (Java 8, Maven, MySQL) in Francophone countries in the near term.
Main duties and responsibilities
Software Engineering
- Support software development of digital health technologies like DHIS2 and iHRIS for project activities across West Africa.
- Work with other engineers, designers, program staff, and country stakeholders to manage the requirements gathering and documentation and communicate effectively across these diverse teams
- Support software development process, including design, prototyping, documentation, testing, coding, deployment, bug fixes, site improvements, and enhancements, utilizing the Principles of Digital Development.
- Write efficient code using current web technologies and conduct source code reviews to assure quality and functionality, and optimize site code for maximum speed and scalability
- Communicate effectively in both the English and French languages
Technology Solution Leadership
- Use innovative techniques to solve challenging technical problems under diverse circumstances
- Support deploying and maintain software on Linux servers and cloud platforms
- Support the production of technologies that are responsive to the user experience, including network conditions that are poor or unreliable with asynchronous processing
Advancement of Technical Knowledge
- Maintain and expand knowledge of existing and new technologies and how they can be used to solve a wide variety of technical challenges
- Maintain and expand knowledge of existing deployment platforms
Talent Development
Support Open communities using developed software
Minimum requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in CS/EE/CE + 4 years of relevant experience or Master’s degree + 2 years of relevant experience
- 4+ years of experience in front and back-end web development
- 2+ years engaging with Ministry of Health stakeholders and adapting software to local needs
Other requirements
Knowledge and skills
- Ability to build web applications using front-end JavaScript frameworks such as Vue JS, Angular JS, React and Ember and HTML5 web technologies.
- Proficiency with server-side languages such as JavaScript, PHP, Python, Java, Go
- Experience with SQL, NoSQL and XML databases and data exchange standards like FHIR, CSD, and mCSD.
- Experience deploying and maintaining software on local Linux servers and on cloud platforms in low-bandwidth environments
- Proficient in spoken and written English and French, with native French language skills preferred.
- Preferred experience with data analysis, PowerBI, R, ElasticSearch, or Kibana, and Global Goods such as DHIS2, iHRIS, or OpenMRS.
