Job description

Incumbent serves as the direct liaison between the U.S. Mission in Dakar and the utility companies that serve their residences and office buildings. Incumbent is responsible for maintaining files and records for all utilities-related correspondence, invoices, claims, and work requests pertaining to the properties of the Mission. Incumbent intercedes with the utility companies, landlords, and agents, on behalf of the Mission where problems, issues or disagreements arise. Incumbent maintains continuity in the housing office during the absences of other team members and is responsible for on-going activities, i.e., leasing, contracting, and administrative support for the Supervisory General Services Officer. Incumbent assumes responsibility for contacting agents/landlords as required. Works under direct supervision of Housing Supervisor.

Job requirements 

  • Experience: At least two years’ experience in administration, clerical work, accounting, or real estate is required.
  • Education requirements: Completion of secondary school is required.

Language

  • English level III (Good working knowledge) Written/Speaking/Reading is required. (This may be tested)
  • French level IV (Fluent) Written/Speaking/Reading is required.Skills and abilities: Level II typing ability (40 WPM) is required. Must be proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of applications. Must be able to communicate well and work closely with American Officers and to negotiate with utility service personnel on behalf of the Embassy. Persistence, determination and diplomacy in pursuing Embassy goals and objectives is required.Qualifications: All applicants under consideration will be required to pass medical and security certifications.
