Teranga Gold Corporation hiring Procurement Officer.

Summary of Role

This is a national position: 4 weeks on / 2 weeks off roster to our Sabodala mine site operations in Senegal.

  • The primary purpose of this position is to Provide Professional Procurement Services for both Non-Inventory and Inventory Items which include Services in-conjunction with the End Users. Focusing on the best value at the lowest cost that contributes to overall cost reduction. A strong focus on the Supplier Management for both supplies and services ensuring the suppliers performance on the business requirements.
  • The Procurement Officer is also responsible for managing site based pre- and post-expediting. This entails monitoring all Inventory and Non-inventory Purchase Orders for Site Operations. The Procurement Officer consults with vendors and logistics to make sure that Purchase Orders are delivered by predetermined dates. The Procurement Officer must maintain the ERP system with accurate delivery dates.
  • To Represent Supply Chain concerning supply and logistics issues with the Internal Customer in assisting them in achieving their targets thus eliminating downtime.

  • Management of Direct Purchase, Local Procurement, and International Buying.
  • Establish and maintain standards for accurate audit of respective sections.
  • Initiate a Cost Savings initiative on lowering down cost on the Procurement.
  • Handling weekly reorder report
  • Handling prepayment process based on requirements on quotes.
  • Ensure all Inventory and Non-Inventory Purchase Orders receive a confirmation on placement from the vendor on placement.
  • Ensure all Orders placed are followed up to ensure delivery is met as per the quote or PO. (90% accuracy on expediting)
  • Maintain the ERP system with the last updated information for all Purchase Orders.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders to ensure all quotes for repairs are received in a timely manner from the supporting vendor.
  • Ensure timely reports that account for order status for Inventory and Non-Inventory orders are issued to all site-based Managers, Superintendents, and Supervisors.
  • Notify Logistics for all Purchase Orders ready to be collection and follow up for collection.
  • Manage the prepayment form and submittal to accounts if required necessary.
  • Update the ERP with port entry for all purchase order in Transit in a timely manner.
  • Report any shortfall in delivery of schedule to key stakeholders to ensure site productivity is not compromised.
  • Provide daily, weekly, or monthly reports whenever required.
  • Provide weekly or monthly expediting report & KPI.
  • Ensure OSHA and Environmental Policy is followed.
  • Additional responsibilities to support job progression, for a specific period.
  • Other duties may be assigned with complexities as needed and warranted.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Diploma, Business, Supply Chain Management or Engineering is desirable.
  • Minimum of 3 Years’ experience in an Industrial Warehouse setting with knowledge in Logistics and Transport. Experience in Gold Mining or related industry would be an advantage.
  • Certificate in Handling and Storage of Dangerous Goods
  • Read, speak, and write in the English and French languages is required.
  • Excellent negotiation skills, proactive approach, and self-reliance.
  • Competent and analytical thinker with strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and with minimal external guidance.
  • Be flexible to accommodate critical role-specific events/deadlines.
