PEG Senegal operations started two years ago. PEG Mali was launched in January 2020, and over the coming years will grow from a start up to an established business, with around 80 FTE’s and 120 commission based sales agents by the end of the first year. This growth added to our well established operations in Senegal comes with an increasing complexity requiring a strong finance leader to support the business. The Cluster Finance Director for Senegal and Mali will create the Senegal and Mali finance cluster with support from Group leadership to ensure finance as a support function is on top of the growth agenda in this part of the region. Duties will include:

  • Assisting the leadership team in setting the strategic direction of the business, ensuring all risks and opportunities are incorporated in the financials
  • Cash management and optimization
  • Assisting with the debt/equity financing as required by Group Finance, and assist with lender management (monthly, quarterly and annual reporting)
  • Creating systems to prevent errors in data collection and calculations
  • Overseeing and managing the Annual Audit process, and ensuring that consistent accounting practices and policies are implemented. This will involve creating, amending and updating accounting policies.
  • Building up the PEG Mali finance department & team and creating synergies with Senegal finance department
  • Ensuring full compliance with legal, tax and secretarial requirements
  • Being responsible for managing, developing and mentoring the finance teams.
  • Being responsible for ensuring compliance with all country and company regulations
  • Manage all accounting operations including Balance Sheet, Billing, Trade receivable, Inventory and Revenue Recognition
  • Comfortable with International Financials Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • Promote and launch a strong Financial planning and Analysis function to support business review and decisions
  • Coordinating and directing the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances
  • Preparing timely reports and monthly financial statements
  • Coordinating the preparation of regulatory reporting
  • Supporting month-end and year-end close process
  • Ensuring quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
  • Managing and complying with local reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Developing and documenting business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls

The successful candidate must have

  • Master’s degree in accounting, business, economics, finance or a related field;
  • 10 years of experience as a financial controller in a business or finance environment;
  • Management experience;
  • Leadership and Interpersonnel skills;
  • Experience in working or implementing Odoo or other ERP
  • Solid written and verbal communication and presentation skills in French and English
  • High attention to details; Critical thinking and problem-solving skills;
  • Organisational skills;
  • Analytical and Computer skills;
  • Understanding of data privacy standards.
  • Experience in a fast growing and matrix organization will be a plus
