Focus of the Role

Are you excited by the prospect of transforming developing and emerging nations in Africa through the application of technology and innovations across public services, agriculture, health and climate? Do you have experience of consulting or working in the tech field and of leading teams to drive systemic and transformative change in an emerging or developing country?

Our main objective in this strategically important role is to rapidly deploy a tech for development initiative in Senegal, which has been enabled by a dynamic external partner across existing and new operations in our Government Advisory and Tech & Public Policy divisions. This landmark initiative will be delivered in 30 countries, with activity in Senegal starting immediately.

We have an advisory team embedded in Senegal, part of which is working with the Ministry of Health and Social Action (MSAS) to implement the national health sector digitization program. The Project Assistant would report to the TBI E-Health Senior Project Manager leading our work at the Ministry of Health and Social Action and is required to be an active team player and contributor to overall project-wide objectives. This is a two-year fixed term role.

Key Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of the role include:

Workstream management support

  • Support the management of the workstreams from start to finish, including timelines, content, and deliverables
  • Support the planning and facilitation of workstream related meetings with counterparts, routines, and engagements

Delivery Support

  • Support the development and implementation of strategies/frameworks and approaches
  • Support the project team in the development of reports, presentations, and other relevant documents
  • Conduct relevant research and acquire/analyse data to support the project’s workstreams and deliverables

Evaluative support

  • Support evaluation of strategies, frameworks, and activities to ensure progress and intervention effectiveness
  • Proactively identify issues affecting workstream delivery, propose solutions and promptly communicate them to team leader(s)
  • Support the successful development and delivery of project goals and deliverables

General support

  • Any other duties as assigned by the E-Health Senior Project Manager

Person Specification

We are looking for individuals with high levels of enthusiasm, drive, resilience, a can-do attitude and the ability to consistently achieve results in a fast-paced environment. This is a role in a fast-paced team, working within complex policy areas that are highly scrutinised.

Therefore, the successful candidate for the role should be able to display the majority of the following:

  • A minimum of two years demonstrated experience in consulting, international development, health systems strengthening, and/or advisory functions
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent leadership, coordination and relationship building skills
  • An ability to operate and succeed in a highly political environment
  • An ability to deliver results in complex and challenging environments

  • An ability to work independently, think strategically and translate strategies to concrete and implementable plans, an acute attention to detail with excellent organisational skills

  • Self-starter, motivated and proactive with solutions
  • Good knowledge and application of Microsoft Office products Word, Excel and PPT and other relevant software and tools
  • Fluency in French and English required

  • Extremism Policy Unit: creating solutions designed to tackle the threat of extremist ideologies in the UK and around the world.
