Plan international has implemented grants from the Global Fund for fighting AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, since round 4.

Plan works on Global Fund’s grants in Benin, Burkina Faso, Liberia, Guinea, Mali, Niger, Senegal, El Salvador, Thailand, Togo and Zimbabwe.

The Global Fund for fighting AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria on the proposal of the National Coordination has designated Plan International Guinea as Principal Recipient to implement the combined tuberculosis-HIV prevention 2018-2020 grant.

The work of the Regional Gender in Emergencies Specialist is to support and work closely with the Head Gender Equality and Inclusion in providing technical and strategic regional support for Plan’s work on gender equality and inclusion in disaster preparedness and response. The Regional Gender in Emergencies Specialist ensures that Plan’s disaster risk management (DRM) programming and influencing around the region contributes to Plan’s Global Strategy of gender transformative programming, and becomes well-known for quality, innovation, scalability and results.

The role will seek to help countries pursue improvements in gender aware and gender transformative programming in humanitarian settings. It seeks to build capacity and confidence in country teams on internalising and demystifying gender transformative approaches using available program tools within Plan. It will provide advisory and technical support to country office staff on gender in emergencies and other DRM action, ensuring that Plan is recognized for quality, innovation and results. The role will also support the integration of gender transformative approaches in humanitarian response, building Plan’s reputation as a thought and practice leader in gender transformative humanitarian programming.

Do you have what it takes ?

As Regional Gender Equality and Inclusion Specialist:

  • You will lead the roll-out of Plan’s Gender Equality and Inclusion Capacity Building Programme in the WACA by ensuring that appropriate knowledge, skills, tools and capacities are in place to support Plan staff’s performance on gender equality and inclusion.
  • You will develop and support a Gender and Inclusion network comprised of gender focal points in country offices to expand and strengthen their technical skills in gender and inclusion.
  • You will provide advanced technical support to country offices on gender transformative programming and influencing for innovative, evidence-based and impactful programmes, and support resource mobilization.
  • You will support the operationalization of the Global Gender Equality and Inclusion Policy throughout the region and countries in the integration of gender transformation in country transformation processes including strategy development, implementation, and monitoring.
  • You will lead the deployment of Plan Planting Equality 2.0’s gender equality and inclusion capacity building program in the region, including monitoring regional progress and performance and ensuring that knowledge, skills and appropriate skills, tools and capacities are in place to support the performance of Plan staff in gender equality and inclusion.
  • You will support the regional network for gender equality in order to become an effective community for sharing and exchanging information on gender equality and you will ensure that the regional gender network (including the CO gender advisers and focal points) provides high quality support that is appreciated by members, including learning and exchange opportunities that improve performance by ensuring alignment with the Global Gender and Inclusion Group (GIG).
  • You will provide support to the technical advisers of the countries concerned to ensure that they are able to introduce and apply the transformative gender marker of Plan to all programs and support for the self-assessments of the Gender and Inclusion (GEISA) and the Annual Gender and Inclusion Reviews (GIR).
  • You will provide expert advice, support and advanced technical expertise to countries on program development, particularly on strategic and multi-country proposals, supporting resource mobilization by writing project proposals for models for regional gender transformation programs and providing advice and input to key proposals developed by countries and countries.
  • You will ensure that the global policies of Plan International for Child Protection (CPP) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI) are fully integrated in accordance with the principles and requirements of the policy, including standards and relevant implementation guidelines applicable to their area of ​​responsibility.
