The role

The Roving Operations Coordinator has a unique position in the operations department. The purpose of the role is to provide in-house support to Country Offices by filling operational gaps or provide specific support when need be. The role also ensures smooth start-ups of regional, national or area programmes whilst recruitment for permanent positions is ongoing. When not deployed, the Roving Operations Coordinator will also play a key role in the regional operations team by supporting the Regional Director for Operations and the Regional Operations Manager in various duties. This is an exciting role for a junior to mid-level NGO practitioner willing to provide direct-support to field operations while gaining experience and contributing to Regional Office’s work. S/he is the Gender Focal person for the Country Office (CO).

Qualifications Experience and Skills

  • Recommended a minimum of 5 years of project management experience in  INGO/NGO environment, including at least one field operations experience Bachelor’s/ Master’s  degree  in  development  or  other  social  sciences or equivalent working experience
  • Willingness to learn and quickly adapt to a fast-pacing working environment
  • Experience of  INGO/NGO emergency program cycle management, and with experience of working within a complex and matrix organisation structure
  • Good knowledge of international humanitarian systems and standards, institutions and donors, and of procedures, accountability frameworks and best practices in emergency management
  • Good experience and knowledge of effective financial and budgetary control and securing and managing grants from major institutional donors
  • Solid project management skills related to organisational development projects and international, cross-functional and integrated teams with a proven history of delivering results
  • Ability to analyse information, evaluate options and to think and plan strategically
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Fluency in written and spoken French and working knowledge of English
  • Ability and willingness to change work practices and hours, and to be deployed up to 50% with short notice
  • Commitment  to  and  understanding  of  Save  the  Children’s  aims,  values  and principles  including rights-based approaches
